Want to discuss a possible production of Law and Disorder

Please forgive the intrusion --

I had the great pleasure of seeing "Law and Disorder" in Midland a couple of years ago with my 2 daughters. It was very well done by the folks at MCT and we had a blast!

My oldest daughter is now in a high school drama class and they are soliciting requests from the students for a fall production. Bethany would like to suggest "Law and Disorder". So I did a web search and saw posts from Mr. Radford on this forum. I hope you guys don't mind a stranger butting in!

Which brings me to -- Hey, Will. If if you're out there please send me a quick note to let me know if another production is a possibility. I can provide contact info if you will PM me.

Thanks so much.

Post from a former Nite Liter

By the way, Filonna, I did notice your post. I've just been terrible about responding.

Fact is, we're very pleased to see this old theatre group continue to thrive, change its guard, and keep on keepin' on. It's so pleasing to hear people step up from the world's community, and learn about what they once knew in Trenton.

Thanks for visiting!

Little Women Call Backs

Call Backs will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 6:30 pm at the Nite Lite Theatre space.

Please read the following requests carefully and act accordingly:

1. If your name is listed below and you want to continue the auditions process and can be there Thursday, do nothing. If I do not hear from you, I will automatically assume that you will be there with bells on!

2. If your name is listed below and you want to continue the auditions process but cannot attend call backs on Thursday, please let me know as soon as possible. Even if you have already spoken with me regarding a conflict on Thursday, please confirm this with me and let me know you are still interested in being a part of this show.

3. If your name is listed below and you are not interested in continuing the audition process, please call or email me to let me know as soon as possible.

4. Please remember that receiving a call back does not guarantee a role in this production. Call backs are meant to provide the director with additional reading opportunities. The final cast list will be posted to the forum after the call backs.

Please know I think my most important job as director is to ensure the roles are filled as consistently and accurately with the authors’ vision of the characters. In making my call back selections, I have continually kept this in mind. It is my deepest hope that if Louisa May Alcott was in the audience on opening night, her comment would be, “that’s exactly what I meant!”

I thank everyone for auditioning and commend everyone on a job well done!

Regards,
Jennifer

Call Backs:

Jerry Cole
Heather Porter
Faye Taylor
Julia Proctor
Greer Barnes
Jill Joiner
Tom Proctor
Beverly Hassell
Dezerae Graves

Law and disOrder Review

Excellent review, sir! There's a distinct advantage to having reviews, given that theatrical presentations 'round here don't last long enough for reviews to benefit them. At least the Midland folks now have a great idea of the production; too bad they had to wreck Scott's reveal, however, to illustrate the broadth of his character.

edited to ask: is "broadth" a word?

edited to add: you should send that out as a bulletin with myspace. no idea why. ;-)

ARRGH

On a rant.

For the past 8 months, I've been talking to someone about directing for Nite Lite. He wanted to really badly, so I told him to choose a play and sell it at the GMM.

But he didn't show up at the meeting last week. Embarassing as that is, to say "Hey, he's on his way... it's all we've talked about for 8 months, so he'll be here!", I said it over and over that evening. We ate, we conducted business of NLT, and still no show. At some point I discussed it with Kathi, who said she'd try and sell Harvey, if the dude Toughdidn't make it. It later got chosen by the members.

He sent an email that night, saying "excuse, excuse, excuse, blah blah blah, excuse, excuse", and asked if it was too late. I wrote back, told him that it indeed was, our shows and directors were selected, and I'm sorry things didn't work out with his scheduling. When life gives you lemons...

He wrote me back today, apparently surprised that it ends so badly (read: not in his favor), and upset that he doesn't have a second chance! I'm reading his email, thinking, "WTH? He pulls a no-show, but still wants a free opportunity at our stage?" He fails to make the meeting, yet somehow he's surprised because life goes on?!

My goodness... there's a level of accountability that should be considered. If the GMM was his stage, and he wasn't on it, he can't get the accolades! dude, get your foot off the primadonnaccelerator (I made that up)!

Yeah, I'm airing this laundry. Sorry if it hurt eyes.

</rant mode OFF>

Director's Workshop in June

Ken's Director's Workshop was a great event! Mr. Zimmerman was very knowledgeable about the craft of theatre, and he really helped to outline many of the things I'd never thought about, when it comes to pre-production ideas.

Now it's time to go look for "beats" and "French scenes" in LndO. w00t!

And thanks to Beverly Hassell and Jennifer Petty for lunch, and especially Beverly for soliciting and sponsoring the idea, and seeing it through to the end!

Little Women Question

Frosty

I was perusing your post and need to ask you a ?

Would it be possible for you to scoot your production back a couple of weeks to the beginning or the middle of February?

We have a huge scheduling problem with the school during the spring unless we have our musical at the beginning or the middle of march.
They have banquets, the prom, an art show, Great Pretenders, beauty reviews and all sorts of stuff going on the last couple of weeks in March and all thru April and May.

While regular length plays usually do not rehearse on stage till 2 weeks before the show, the musicals usually rehearse on stage 3-4 weeks before opening and if your show is at the end of February it might turn out to be a huge mess trying to get the theatre booked that late. Not to mention having to take one set out and put the other one in (probably on the same day)

Give me a holler at the space 855-2129 or email me office@nite-lite.org and we can discuss this and all the other things you mentioned in your post.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine glass in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming... Dang, What a ride!!
